What's New Wednesday: FastPasses, Horses, and Dragons, Oh My!

As usual, we have lots of news coming your way on this What's New Wednesday.

At Disney World:
First, there are now officially NO "Legacy" FastPasses in the Disney World parks! For my travelers who were able to "double dip" during the initial testing phase - yay for you! FastPass+ has now been expanded to all four parks and the paper (Legacy FASTPASS)
system is not available. What does this mean for you? If you are a guest staying in a Disney resort, you will continue to be able to make any FastPass selections up to 60 days in advance. However, your Key to the World card will not work in a traditional kiosk. Guests who are not staying at a Disney World resort hotel can make same-day, same-park FastPass+ selections at NEW kiosks (not the traditional FASTPASS kiosks that were located near the individual rides) located throughout the Disney Parks.

Then, EPCOT's Flower and Garden Festival News has been released - here's what's new!
  • This year’s topiaries will feature Goofy, Donald Duck and Daisy Duck celebrating spring with a butterfly hunt at the park’s main entrance, while Kermit and Miss Piggy will appear in World Showcase.
  • Outdoor Kitchens returns for it's second year, but offers several new “sweet & savory” and “spring-inspired” menu items.
  • There are also two new acts on the schedule for this year’s Flower Power Concert Series: Gary Lewis and the Playboys (“This Diamond Ring”) and The Alan Parsons Live Project (“Eye in the Sky”).
  • This event runs from March 5 - May 18th, and even overlaps Star Wars Weekends in May!

In Aulani:
Disney's Aulani in Ko'Olina Hawaii has a brand new special offer - a $400 credit on a hotel room or suite with a four-or-more-night stay, OR $500 resort credit when you purchase a minimum four-night stay in a one or two-bedroom villa. This special offer can be booked now through March 31, 2014 for stays most nights April 23 through June 16, 2014. Your resort credit can be applied to indulge at Laniwai Spa, an exciting island excursions, beach rental activities, or with an Aulani dining option.

Disneyland:
At Disneyland, there is a special discount for rooms that can save you up to 25% for Sunday through Thursday nights from Jan 5 - April 10. Must be booked by January 28, 2014.

The Year of the Horse returns during the Happy Lunar New Year Celebration, January 31-February 2nd at Disney California Adventure park! The Paradise Gardens will be the scene for the daily tribute to the traditional celebrations of the Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese cultures.

Watch as a Chinese dragon dance troupe joins Mickey, Minnie, and the gang for the celebration. Guests also get the chance to make their own paper lanterns, AND partake in the tradition of writing good wishes for fortune and happiness to family and friends.

Oh and one last thing, speaking of dragons...

You all know the Celebrate a Dream Come True Parade was retired earlier this month from the Magic Kingdom. A new parade called The Festival of Fantasy Parade is slated to begin in the Spring, and guess what we have for you? A sneak peek at one of the new parade floats! A fire-breathing Malificent Dragon float!

I can't wait to see the rest of the parade floats! What do ya think?
