It's Theme Park Thursday, where we spotlight something about one of our favorite parks. I recently had a mom ask me "I've got a 10 year old boy. Is he going to find EPCOT boring?" Well absolutely not! Here are some things that you may not know about this park:
She Says:
There are rides for the adventurous, including Test Track, where you can design and race your own car against other cars. Mission: Space Orange and Mission: Space Green, an out of this world adventure where YOU get to choose how adventurous you want to be! Then there's The Sum of All Fears, where you literally build your own roller coaster track and then strap yourself in and experience it!
He says:
Don't forget to ride Soarin' or The Maelstrom in Germany (a "hidden" ride that some travelers skip
right over on their first trip to Disney!)
She says:
For those who love tamer rides, or rides with younger ones, catch 5 more rides like Ellen's Energy Adventure, The Gran Fiesta Tour (another "hidden" ride inside Mexico!), The Seas with Nemo, Spaceship Earth, where you travel through time, or two of my favorites, Living With The Land, and Journey Into the Imagination with Figment!
Looking for attractions that are a blast from the past? Try Captain EO featuring Michael Jackson, or for an even FURTHER journey into the past, try the American Adventure!
He says: Did she mention the nighttime laser and fireworks spectacular? Funny guy.
For younger ones, they can visit Kidcot stations in the World Showcase, or Turtle Talk with Crush!
For the princesses in your life, you can dine with your favorite characters at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall, and even take a boat over to Downtown Disney for a little trip to the second of two Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutiques onsite. Or, perhaps you want to dine with Chip, Dale, Mickey & Goofy? Or sample sophisticated fare in France, or clog along with the entertainment at The Biergarten (or enjoy one of the other 21 quick service and 17 table service restaurants onsite)!
Once you're in the World Showcase, you can meet your favorite characters - especially those you haven't already dines with, (EPCOT is HANDS DOWN the best park for meeting princesses and other human characters!) and immerse yourself in the cuisine and culture of 11 different countries.
There's an immersive experience for kids called Phineas and Ferb: Agent P's World Showcase Adventure, where kids can solve clues to thwart the evil Dr. Doofenshmirtz as they visit the countries in the World Showcase. Littler guests can enjoy the Kidcot stations in each country where they can decorate their Duffy sign, and a native Cast Member will stamp it with a special stamp!
And don't forget the 13 "streetmosphere" events, including The Spirit of America Fife and Drum Corp, where your little patriot can become an honorary member of this Colonial marching band.
Not sure when to go? How about during a special event! Like during summer, when the grand stage hosts the "Sounds Like Summer" Concert Series. Or maybe during the fall, with the Food and Wine Festival. Perhaps winter, where we celebrate Holidays Around the World, or in the Spring, with the Flower and Garden festival! Year round there's ALWAYS something special at EPCOT. So what are you waiting for, come on down!
See ya real soon!
